Sage ("we," "our," or "us") is a family accountability and focus-support platform designed to help children build healthy habits through guided routines, rewards, and behavioral insights. We take privacy seriously and are committed to protecting all personal information processed through our mobile app, desktop Focus Mode app, and related services (the "Services").

By using Sage, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide, improve, and secure Sage. The information we collect depends on how parents/guardians and children use the Services.

a. Information Provided by Parents/Guardians

• Parent/guardian name
• Email address
• Phone number
• Login credentials
• Child name or nickname
• Age or grade level
• Weekly schedules, tasks, goals, and reward settings

b. Information Provided by Children

• Nicknames/chosen profile names
• Task completion entries
• Check-ins, focus logs, and mood indicators
• Optional homework explanations or learning notes

(Children never provide phone numbers, emails, or contact information.)

c. Automatically Collected Information

• Device type and operating system
• IP address (security/fraud detection)
• App usage metrics
• Focus Mode behavior data (e.g., app-switching events, engagement verification)
• Screen-time and session-duration indicators
• Location check-ins for extracurricular attendance only if parents enable it

d. Sensitive Information

We do not collect:

• Biometric identifiers
• Health diagnoses or medical records
• Government IDs
• Precise advertising identifiers (such as Apple's IDFA or Google Advertising ID)

We never use the IDFA, Advertising Identifiers, or any cross-app tracking.

3. How We Use Information

We use collected information to operate Sage effectively and safely.

a. To Power Core Features

• Account creation and authentication
• Task lists, schedules, and reminders
• Focus Mode and attention tracking
• Smart reward systems and streak logic
• Parent dashboards and behavior insights
• Homework understanding and learning-style support

b. To Improve the Platform

• Feature optimization
• Understanding screen flow and engagement
• Refining behavioral models
• Enhancing reward systems
• Improving app stability

c. For Safety and Fraud Prevention

• Detecting suspicious activity
• Preventing unauthorized access

We do not use personal data for automated decision-making that significantly affects children without parental visibility.

4. How We Do NOT Use Information

To address your developer's concerns directly:

a. No Third-Party Advertising

Sage does not:

• Serve ads
• Use third-party ad networks
• Use third-party behavioral advertising
• Use advertising identifiers (IDFA)
• Track users across apps or websites for advertising
• Share any child data with marketing partners

b. No Third-Party Ad Tracking in Child Experience

Sage does not use:

• Cookies for advertising
• Device fingerprinting
• Cross-app tracking
• Behavioral profiling for ads

c. No Sharing with External AI Providers Unless Anonymized

We do not share identifiable personal data with external AI/LLM providers.

If AI tools are used in future features (e.g., homework understanding), we will only send:

• Fully anonymized data,
• Or data processed on-device,
• Or data processed on Sage-controlled servers,

never identifiable child data, unless a parent explicitly opts in.

This is compliant with Apple App Store requirements and COPPA-aligned.

5. How We Share Information

We only share information with partners essential to running Sage.

a. Service Providers

Examples include:

• Cloud storage (Firebase)
• Analytics (non-advertising, aggregate-level only)
• Infrastructure and security tools
• Customer support tools

All providers:

• Are contractually bound to confidentiality
• May not use data for advertising
• May not use data for machine learning outside Sage's instructions

b. Parents/Guardians

A child's:

• Progress
• Streaks
• Rewards
• Behavioral patterns
• Focus metrics
• Learning insights

…are always visible to the parent/guardian who manages the account.

c. Legal Requirements

We may share information only if required to:

• Comply with the law
• Protect safety
• Prevent fraud or abuse

We never sell personal information.

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA-Aligned)

• Parents create all child accounts.
• Children cannot provide contact info or payment info.
• We do not collect unnecessary sensitive data from children.
• We do not allow third-party advertising or tracking.
• We do not share child information outside core service providers.

If we learn that a child submitted personal information without parental involvement, we delete it.

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard protections, including:

• HTTPS/TLS encryption
• Encrypted data storage
• Access-restricted servers
• Authentication protections
• Continuous monitoring
• Regular audits

No security system is perfect, but we maintain strong technical and organizational safeguards.

When deleted, data is removed or anonymized within 45 days, unless legally required to retain it.
